The Master's Program of the Department of Nursing began its operation in 1994. Among the specializations was Mental Health. The Department of Nursing of the School of Health Sciences at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens established and operated, from the academic year 2018–2019, the Postgraduate Program entitled “Advanced Nursing Care and Mental Health of Children and Adults”, with a specialization in “Mental Health” (established pursuant to Law 4485/2017). This program was subsequently discontinued and replaced by a new Postgraduate Program entitled “Mental Health” (Government Gazette 3875/Series B/2021), operating in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Ministerial Decision and Law 4957/2022.
The Program aims to provide postgraduate students with specialized knowledge across the full spectrum of psychological and psychiatric topics. Its curriculum covers specialized areas of psychiatric nursing, psychopathology from childhood through adulthood, psychosocial interventions, psychopharmacology, community and social psychiatry, as well as specific topics such as addictions and the mental health needs of special population groups.
